Dr. David D. Wang

David Wang earned his M.D., Ph.D. in China, where he received formal medical education and rigorous training in both traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western medicine. He is nationally certified in acupuncture and Chinese herbology, licensed in acupuncture in Ohio, and has over 40 years of clinical experience, including 10 years as a physician in China. Before relocating to the United States in 1995, he served as a senior attending physician at Guang An Men Hospital in Beijing.

Since moving to the United States, David Wang has devoted his career to the practice and teaching of acupuncture and Oriental medicine. From 1995 to 2000, he served as Academic Dean and Clinic Director at the International Institute of Chinese Medicine in Santa Fe, New Mexico. From 2001 to 2005, he served as Dean of Oriental Medicine at the American Institute of Alternative Medicine in Columbus, Ohio, where he designed and established Ohio’s first professional master’s degree program in acupuncture.

Since 2005, Dr. Wang has had the privilege of working at The Ohio State University Center for Integrative Health, where he played a key role in establishing the acupuncture program from the ground up. Throughout his career at Ohio State, he has made significant contributions to the development of acupuncture clinical practice and education. David Wang has held various academic and advisory roles, including as a professor in the doctoral program at the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Minneapolis, MN, and as a Senior Expert on the first expert committee of the China-US Institute for Acupuncture and Rehabilitation at Wenzhou Medical University in China. He is also a co-founder and past president of the Ohio Acupuncture Association (formerly the Ohio Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine).

Honors and Awards:

David Wang was recognized by the Ohio House of Representatives and the Columbus City Council in 2004 for his outstanding contributions to alternative medicine. In 2008, he received an "Excellence" rating in the Patient Health Education Interdisciplinary Team Award from the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. In 2019, he was awarded a Certificate of Congressional Recognition for his achievements in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and his efforts to enhance lives through integrative medicine. On October 24, 2022, he was honored at the national “Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine Day” celebration for his pivotal role in founding the Ohio Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

David. Wang is an active member of several acupuncture and TCM professional organizations. He serves as the Executive Vice President and Chair of Internal Medicine for the American Traditional Chinese Medicine Association, Vice President of the Traditional Chinese Medicine American Alumni Association, and Vice President of the Specialty Committee of Constitutional Medicine of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies. Additionally, he is an executive council member of the Board of the Specialty Committee of Internal Medicine, the 2nd Board of the Specialty Committee on Metabolic Diseases, and the 4th Board of the Educational Instruction Committee. He is also a council member of the 3rd Board of the Specialty Committee of Hepatology of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies and an advisor on the Acupuncture Advisory Committee for the Ohio State Medical Board.
David Wang has extensively lectured on traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, both nationally and internationally. He has been invited to speak at numerous conferences and has contributed to research publications and books, advancing the field of Acupuncture, TCM and integrative medicine.
